What the no-fill pattern tells us

The exact behaviour narrows the problem. If neither hot nor cold water enters, both closed supply taps, a blocked shared flow path, a lock that never confirms or a control issue must be considered. If cold works but warm and hot selections do not, one side of the dual inlet valve or its supply may be restricted. A slow trickle that eventually reaches the correct level is different again from a short burst followed by a fill error.

Incoming pressure and water-level pressure are different

Two kinds of “pressure” can matter on the same service call. Incoming water pressure is the force bringing water through the household taps and fill hoses. Inside the washer, a small air path and pressure sensor track the rising water level in the tub. That internal system does not boost weak household pressure; it reports when the machine has enough water.

A pinched pressure hose, residue in the air chamber or a faulty level sensor can make an empty washer behave as if it is already full. The control may then close the inlet valve, skip the fill or stop the cycle. The opposite fault can allow the level to climb too high. If a washer is overfilling, turn it off and close the laundry taps if they are safely reachable, then leave it unused until it is checked.

How we trace the fill path

Diagnosis starts at the supply and moves inward. We confirm that both taps provide usable flow, inspect accessible hose routing and inlet screens, and test whether each side of the inlet valve opens when requested. We then check the lid or door-lock feedback, because many washers will not admit water until the control knows the opening is secured.

When water enters but the cycle still waits, attention shifts to the pressure hose, air chamber, water-level sensor and related wiring. The control is considered only after those inputs and the valve circuit have been evaluated. This order matters: replacing a valve cannot correct a false “full” reading, and replacing a control cannot restore a restricted household supply.

Safe checks before a Markham appointment

Look behind the machine only if the hoses are visible without pulling or tilting it; a sharply bent hose can restrict filling.
