Washer Won't Start or Has No Power? Safe Checks
Check the simple controls
Confirm the door or lid is fully closed, the cycle was selected and any control-lock or delayed-start setting is off. Test the outlet only in a safe, manufacturer-approved way and look for a tripped household breaker. Never use an extension cord or bypass a lock to make the washer run.
What diagnosis may uncover
Door locks, lid switches, start buttons, line filters, wiring and electronic controls can all produce a no-start complaint. The exact behaviour matters: completely silent, a click, a brief drain attempt or a code each points to a different test path.
When to stop troubleshooting
Book service if power is confirmed but the washer remains dead, the breaker trips, controls flicker or the lock will not engage. Note what happened immediately before the failure and provide the model number and any code.

Washer Won't Start or Has No Power? Safe Checks — quick answers
Why does the washer click but not begin?
A door or lid lock may be trying to engage, or a control may be preventing the cycle from advancing.
Should I reset the breaker repeatedly?
No. If it trips again, leave it off and arrange diagnosis rather than repeatedly energizing a fault.
Can a washer have power but a blank display?
Yes. A user-interface, wiring or main-control fault can leave the display blank even when supply power is present.
