Heavy Frost Building Up in the Freezer? Safe Checks
Check the door and food placement
Confirm packages do not prevent the door from closing and inspect the gasket for visible debris, folds or gaps. Avoid holding the door open while rearranging food. Do not use heat guns, boiling water or sharp objects to remove ice.
Defrost components may need testing
If frost covers the rear freezer panel or returns quickly, a heater, sensor, control or fan issue may be interrupting normal defrost and airflow. A blocked drain can create a different ice pattern near the freezer floor.
Protect food and arrange service
Move perishables if temperature is rising. Photograph the frost before any manual defrost and share the model number. Riko diagnoses accessible components but does not perform sealed-system, compressor or refrigerant work.

Heavy Frost Building Up in the Freezer? Safe Checks — quick answers
Can I chip freezer ice away with a knife?
No. Sharp tools can puncture surfaces and damage hidden components.
Why does frost return after defrosting?
A door-seal, defrost-control, heater, sensor or drainage fault may still be present.
Does frost mean the compressor failed?
Usually not. Frost patterns commonly involve airflow, door sealing or accessible defrost components.
