Electric Oven Trips the Breaker? Stop and Diagnose Safely
Stop after a repeated trip
Turn the oven controls off and leave the breaker off if it trips again, if there is a burning smell or if a pop was heard. Do not pull the range out or open panels; electric cooking appliances use high voltage.
The timing provides a useful clue
A trip as soon as power is restored differs from one that occurs during bake, broil or preheat. Heating elements, terminal connections, wiring and electronic relays require individual electrical tests to locate the fault safely.
Prepare for diagnosis
Record the selected mode, approximate time before the trip and whether the cooktop still worked. Provide the model number. Riko repairs residential electric ovens only and gives an upfront quote after the fault is identified.

Electric Oven Trips the Breaker? Stop and Diagnose Safely — quick answers
Should I reset the breaker and try again?
One reset may confirm the symptom, but if it trips again leave the oven off and arrange diagnosis.
Can I replace the breaker with a larger one?
No. Never change breaker size to overcome an appliance fault; that creates a serious electrical hazard.
Why does it trip only during preheat?
Preheat energizes heating components heavily, so an element, connection or related control fault may appear then.
