Remove visible obstructions
Check that both racks slide fully home, tall utensils do not contact the door and no item is caught near the gasket. Look for a latch that is visibly loose or misaligned, but do not bend it or slam the door.
Closure and the safety signal both matter
The latch mechanism, strike, hinges and door switch work together. A door may appear closed while the control never receives the safe-to-run signal, or cabinet and hinge alignment may prevent proper engagement.
Book when normal loading is ruled out
Leave the dishwasher off if the door opens during a cycle or water escapes. Share the model number and whether the latch clicks, the controls respond, and the machine starts when pressure is applied to the door.
